Adidas and the Indiana University just introduced five newly designed football helmets that the Hoosiers will be wearing for this upcoming 2013-2014 football season.
There’s nothing more exciting during the off-season than new uniforms, and for the 4-8 Indiana Hoosiers, excitement is what they got and needed.
Indiana has been know to be one of the more traditional college sport programs in the nation, especially their basketball program. As the uniform landscape has changed this past few years within the college football world, Indiana too is set to move along with the changing of time.
The Hoosiers unveiled five uniquely new helmet designs, which includes a traditional crimson red helmet with the throwback “I” decal logo, while the other red crimson helmet features the Indiana state flag graphic, which takes a nice page out of the Maryland flag inspired helmet. The other two gloss metallic white helmets features HGI’s HydroSkin crimson red extended stripe detailing that includes a throwback number decal version and traditional “UI” decal logo. Last but not least, the final Indiana Hoosiers football helmet utilizes HGI’s HydroChrome process that features a two tone chroming stripe look, which the crimson and white stripe design mirrors the Hoosiers’ classic basketball warmup pants.
Adidas and Indiana University worked close with Newberg, Oregon base company Hydro Graphics Inc, the same company that created other HydroChrome football helmets around college football, for teams like Oregon, Michigan State, Houston Cougars and North Carolina.
While the chrome style helmet may be a little ugly, I like the the rest of the new helmet collection seem to look pretty good. With 4-8 record last season, any excitement is good excitement and it’s a great way to look towards the future of the program. Judging by the reaction from the Indiana players on the video, the Hoosiers are ready to begin a new and excelling chapter of Indiana football.
